Improve Your Practice Workshop at The Yoga Space, Singapore
Oct 3rd, Thursday 7pm – 9 pm: Spinal Fluidity
This class intends to demystify the idea that backbends are hard or just for the gifted ones. Anyone can increase dramatically their spinal range of movement with the proper warm up, technique, breath work and visualization. Both effort and easiness into these poses should blend seamlessly for an ideal outcome. Come ready to break down some physical and mental walls (especially it you think ‘you can’t’!) and let’s shift our focus into what we CAN do and how to grow and deepen our backbend practice with intelli- gence and grace…. bendy spine, here we go!
Oct 4th, Friday 7pm – 9 pm: Dare to fly
Whether you’re intimidated of going upside down or you can dive into those without much trouble, this class will help you take one step further (or more!). Arm balances and inversions share a lot of common principles, body activation, upper body alignment, core/low back engagement… Improve your endurance, balance, learn better alignment, efficiently use your resources and let’s work on the ones that don’t come that easy. Open your mind to a sweaty and fun class and get ready to conquer these asanas, one try at a time! Lots of wall work guaranteed as well as time on your arms (some breaks too!) so, if you have shoulder/elbow/wrist issues, please inform us and be ready to modify according to your needs. Let’s go!
Oct 5th, Saturday 10am – 12pm: hamstrings & the limitless leg power
Open the cap and uncover the enormous amount of energy stored in your legs. Learn to see and use them as the best helper. In every pose, from the obvious standing poses to inversions or arm balances, the legs have so much entity and presence that, single handedly, they can decided the fate of our asanas more so than any other body part. If you have tight hamstrings, thighs, knee/ankle issues, this class IS for you. If you can fall asleep in Splits, this class is ALSO for you. We’ll study lots of stretches, ways to work with them to gain flexibility/mobility. We’ll also start to tap into their vast poten- tial, planting some seeds so our practice can grow from there.
Oct 5th, Saturday 12:30pm – 2:30 pm: Hip freedom
Recipe for a perfect hip opener and strengthening practice: 1/3 hip flexibility, 1/3 arm balances and leg activation, 1/3 of breath work. Add a splash of visualizations here and there and you got yourself a most fun and engaging workshop. We’ll work on agility to increase our strength and let our strength help us become more agile. One set of skills will lean on the other so they’ll both improve considerably. Come ready to do some funky arm balances as your hips and legs will take a number of shapes you might have never tried. Gain wider range as a result of that too. Detoxify, unlock, have fun and leave renovated as energy will run through your body more freely.
Oct 6th, Sun 10am- 12:00pm: The wheels of life
Wheel is such an encompassing pose we can work on it our whole life and it’ll still teach us invaluable lessons until the very end. Not only it requires a great deal of flexi- bility, balance and strength, but the variations we can do with it are extensive. The sky is the limit. Let’s shoot for the starts and join this class where we’ll warm up intently to work thoroughly on a number of Wheels, relatives and friends. This class is for all levels but you’ll enjoy it much more if you can press into Wheel on your own (even with blocks) and can hold it for a few breaths. Lots of work and fun assured, maybe some breakthroughs too! Come ready to sweat and discover new possibilities!!
